Calle Ocho in Miami, Florida, now in its 28th year, has become one of the largest street festivals in the country — blending the music, foods and cultures of dozens of Latin American countries.

“uch has changed since a small group of Cubans, nostalgic for the festive feel of the Caribbean island, roped off 15 blocks on Miami’s Southwest Eighth Street for a day of revelry.

Today that festival — known affectionately to many as Calle Ocho — has morphed into a miles-long street fair where an estimated crowd of one million walks, dances, sings, sweats and savors foods rich in the staples of dozens of Latin American cultures.”
