“Immediately following his meeting with President Bush, El Salvador’s President Antonio Saca convened with television show host Jorge Gestoso to discuss a number of issues including immigration reform, U.S. relations with Latin America and gang member extradition. The Spanish-language interview will air on “Jorge Gestoso” on Saturday, March 11 at 3 PM and Sunday, March 12 at 10 PM on MHz NETWORKS. The episode can also be seen on the national program stream, MHz WORLDVIEW.
Elected in 2004, President Saca is part of the conservative Nationalist Republican Alliance party, better known by its acronym ARENA. On this most recent visit to the U.S., President Saca discusses the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) which went into effect March 1, 2006 between El Salvador and the United States. He also expresses his opinion regarding the construction of a wall on the U.S./Mexico border, and comments on the extension of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) which affects 300,000 Central Americans living and working in the U.S. under this immigration status.”
