“Yesterday, March 6, 2006, was the 170th anniversary of the fall of the Alamo. On March 6, 1836, 189 to 257 defenders and several hundred Mexican soldiers died after a 13-day battle.

You probably can name a couple of the famous defenders who died firing their guns: Davy Crockett, William Bowie and Jim Travis.

What’s interesting though is that of the 189 men who died at the Alamo, only six were actually born in Texas.”
