“DALLAS — Winnetka Park — referred to by area Hispanics as Benito Juarez park and el parque de los niños, the children’s park — could soon become a shrine to Mexican war heroes.

The southwest Dallas park, situated in the heart of Oak Cliff, serves as a place for Cinco de Mayo celebrations, birthday parties and other holidays. Officials from the Mexican Consulate hope to bring some residents the added comfort of their hometown heroes with a rotunda of bronze busts including Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Zaragoza, Emiliano Zapata, Jose Maria Morelos and Vicente Guerrero.”
