“Moctesuma Esparza describes “Walkout” as the first major feature depicting the struggle for equal rights.

“It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for 20 years,” the ’s executive producer said in a phone interview from California.

Esparza joined HBO Films and actor/director to produce a dramatic, historical based on the true story of the uprising in East Los Angeles in 1968, where he was among 10,000 high school students who staged walkouts to academic prejudice and dire school conditions.”
