“Delaware is making progress in closing the achievement gap between white and Hispanic students, but the gap between white and black students has widened in at least one area, according to a national report released today by Education Trust.

Between 2003 and 2005, Delaware raised the achievement of Hispanic and white students and narrowed gaps between the groups in middle-school reading and high-school reading and math.

That’s notable because, in Delaware and nationwide, schools are making more progress in elementary school than in high school at closing the so-called “achievement gaps” between white and minority, rich and poor”
