“The Kansas City Hispanic Association Contractors Enterprise plans a protest and news conference Thursday to oppose a proposed ordinance that would allow Sprint Center construction to proceed despite shortfalls on stated goals for minority- and women-owned contractors.

Minneapolis-based M.A. Mortenson Co., the project’s construction manager, has contracted 16 percent of the project’s work with minority-owned companies and 4 percent with women-owned companies, company Vice President Ken Sorensen said Thursday.”
