“The state Safety Department is suspending its “certificates for driving” program for two weeks in the wake of a federal bribery investigation, Safety officials announced this morning.
The certificates currently in use are still valid, but if they expire, they can’t be renewed while the program is suspended, state officials said. The state will resume issuing the certificates on March 6, after which they will only be given to people who can prove they have legal presence in the U.S., such as having a “green card.” “
