“The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros was published in 1984 to positive reviews. Since then, the book about the coming of age of a young Latina, set in Chicago, has become a best seller, and first editions have sold on the out-of-print book market for substantial sums.

We asked Latino writers the following questions: What do you think the publication of The House on Mango Street did for Latino literature? Did The House on Mango Street pave the way for more Latino writers to be published? Would The House on Mango Street be a contender in today’s literary market?”
