“When I was growing up and money was tight, my mother and my grandmother would always say that we may do without a lot of things but we would never go hungry.

My grandmother would say that as long as we had tortillas and beans we would always have food to eat.

That’s why when I read the results of the Hunger in America 2006 study released today by America’s Second Harvest, I wasn’t too surprised to learn that of the 25 million Americans who are going hungry and turning to food assistance, Latinos make up the smallest part of that number.
