Knowledge is Power!

“FREMONT ”” Reaching Ron Chavez is never a problem because his cell phone is always on. Chavez is not a doctor or a businessman ”” he is just so passionate about what he does that he wants to be constantly in touch with those who need him.

In 2003, Chavez and a friend founded Grupo Fremont VIP, a Spanish-speaking support group for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The group, which he runs out of his home with his own money, provides information, emotional support and treatment services to the Latino community ”” which he says he believes carries many old stigmas about the disease.”
