“The lack of prescription drug coverage is a problem that affects many Hispanics living the U.S. According to a survey conducted by the AARP, a significant number of Hispanics living in New York City are struggling with a lack of access to their prescription medicines. Pfizer recognizes the need of the community and as a response created Pfizer Helpful Answers. Launched in 2004, Pfizer Helpful Answers is a family of programs that help people without prescription coverage save on many Pfizer medicines, no matter their age or income. People with limited incomes may even qualify to get their Pfizer medicines for free. In 2005 alone, Pfizer Helpful Answers helped over 2 million people receive 14.9 million Pfizer prescriptions.
“Lack of health insurance and prescription drug coverage is a problem that each day seems to be more critical for our community,” said Lillian Rodriguez-Lopez, president of the Hispanic Federation. “With the high prevalence of asthma, diabetes, heart disease, AIDS and other health conditions affecting our community, it is important for us to gain access to those resources that can help prevent and solve some of the complications that result from these health concerns.””
