“CKE, the parent company for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, is in the early stage of an ambitious plan to make its third chain, La Salsa, as successful as its other two, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s.

Acquired with the purchase of Santa Barbara Restaurant Group in 2002, 100-store La Salsa sits on CKE’s plate as an untouched side dish with $10 million in fourth quarter sales. Sales at Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, on the other hand, were $133 million on average and La Salsa competitor Chipotle has taken Wall Street by storm with a hot initial public offering. “
