“Pollo Tropical is ready to take its show on the road.
The Miami chain known for its citrus-flavored grilled chicken and Latin side dishes said it expects to open a company-owned store on March 10 in North Bergen, N.J.
Management is banking on the second time being the charm for Pollo Tropical. When company founder Larry Harris and his team tried to expand outside of Florida more than a decade ago they tried to grow too quickly, and the restaurant’s cuisine didn’t appeal to a non-Hispanic audience. The chain then retreated, and stores in Chicago, Atlanta and New York all closed within a year after opening.”
