“Michelle Jewell often feels more like a a social worker than a business owner.

In her work as a liaison of sorts between immigrants, and government and private entities, she fields cries for help from people needing services as varied as a ride to a Dover agency, assistance finding housing, interpretation at a court hearing or simply translation of a letter sent by a teacher.

“Every day is different because they have a lot of needs as they adapt to a new lifestyle,” said Jewell, co-owner of Elite Service Group in Georgetown. The two-person venture offers immigrants a long list of services that includes: translations/interpretation, notary services, assistance with immigration petitions, referrals for attorney consultation, victim services and computer classes and transportation. They typically charge around $30 an hour.”
