“More than 225 demonstrators rallied at the state Capitol Tuesday to support or denounce a dozen proposals aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, while lawmakers prepared to open their debate on the contentious issue.

Most of the demonstrators condemned the proposals, which range from sanctions for hiring illegal immigrants to requiring students to identify their country of citizenship.”
