“Patchogue has quietly become the epicenter of Long Island’s Ecuadoran community - Espinoza estimates about 5,000 live in or near the historic South Shore mill town. Bay Shore and Hempstead also have large Ecuadoran communities, but Patchogue has emerged as “una base,” Espinoza said.

“In Bay Shore, the Ecuadorans are scattered,” he said. “In Patchogue, we are together. It is easy for everything.”"
