“Only a tiny fraction of Mexicans living in the United States will vote in Mexico’s July presidential election after few applied for postal voting forms, the country’s electoral institute said on Thursday.

In a blow to authorities who hoped a new postal voting system would net many of the 4.2 million Mexicans living abroad and eligible to vote, the Federal Election Institute, or IFE, said it received only 56,749 applications by Wednesday’s deadline.”
