“Sheriff’s Department officials in this heavily Latino city said this week they will use Spanish classes to boost the number of bilingual speakers within its ranks and improve community relations.

Deputy Margaret Barone, who is researching different programs, said the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department doesn’t see many bilingual applicants, so “we need to train the current deputies that we have” to speak Spanish….”
