Johnston, Iowa considers Spanish classes for city workers

“Last year’s failed attempt to offer a Spanish course for Johnston city employees could be revived this year if the city’s department heads show interest.

A proposal to pay for the Spanish class was cut out of the fiscal year 2005-06 budget last year to save money. The Spanish class is in the operating budget for the coming 2006-07 fiscal year, with the cost of the program, $1,990, to be taken from training funds of the different departments whose employees would participate….”
