“But, now Bethlehem’s Hispanic community faces a bigger challenge than mustering Colón from Harrisburg and dozens of others from across the Valley and state for a protest at Monday’s school board meeting. Hispanic leaders must sustain the intense unity they showed after directors voted 5-3 on Jan. 9 to fill a vacancy with William Heske, who lost re-election, instead of one of their candidates who they said would serve as a role model for the district’s 4,657 Hispanic students.

”If the only thing we put forward is anger, frustration, protest, then I think this will be counterproductive,” said Jose Rosado, an assistant principal at East Hills Middle School and Democratic state representative candidate. ”I think we need to organize.”…”
