This is why an aberration like the case of poor Nixzmary Brown is taken by some to be symptomatic of what is wrong with Hispanic culture.

Because I am an American father married to an American mom, I know that the old stereotype about American parents being too selfish to care for their kids is false. And because I am the Hispanic son of Hispanic parents, I know, too, that the old stereotype about Hispanic parents being too thuggish to care for their kids is false….”
