“United Way of Greater Los Angeles and its community partners today released the “2006 Latino Scorecard,” an extensive study that highlights areas of strength and peril for the Latino community — representing the future of Los Angeles with nearly one-half the population — and sets an Action Agenda for the community. By providing indicators and grades updated from the 2003 Latino Scorecard, the report examines how Latinos in Los Angeles are faring in five key areas: health, education, economic development, housing and public safety. This year’s Latino Scorecard reveals that the Los Angeles Latino community still lags behind the general population in the five indices, while showing improvement in youth violence, some areas of educational achievement, and labor force participation….”
