“As Sheriff Mike Carona and Costa Mesa Police Chief John Hensley appealed to Latino leaders today to help with plans to train deputies to enforce immigration laws, one immigrant activist threatened protests if the proposal is approved.

Nativo Lopez, speaking at a forum on the plans, said that if the proposals are enacted, he will ask Latinos to refuse to cooperate with Costa Mesa police, will launch an economic boycott, and will hold a mass march and rally in Costa Mesa on President’s Day weekend….”
