“Diana Siado was studying international business in Colombia and hoping to brush up her English when she learned of an intriguing offer: working at Grand Bear Lodge on a four-month visa.The jobs weren’t glamorous ”” mostly washing dishes and waiting tables ”” but the 22-year-old thought experience in American tourism, and fluent English, would look great her resume.

Last week, Siado quit her job in Grand Bear’s coffee shop after five weeks, citing a number of labor grievances including sporadic paychecks. Before leaving the Utica resort and conference center, she finally collected a $900 check covering five weeks of work since she reported for work in early December….”
