“Spending by Hispanic residents in North Carolina had a $9.2 billion impact in 2004. On the other hand, as a group, Hispanics cost the state $61 million more in services than they pay in state and local taxes.

Consider: Because of Hispanic workers’ lower pay, N.C. workers overall were paid almost $2 billion less in 2004 than they otherwise would have been. But viewed another way, N.C. businesses statewide saved that $2 billion, which translates into lower costs for N.C. consumers….”
