Mexicans in Minnesota to vote in homeland’s presidential election

“Many Minnesota Mexicans are participating in a get-out-the-vote campaign as a deadline approaches for expatriates to cast absentee ballots for the next president of Mexico.

The Mexican presidential election isn’t until July. But the deadline for requesting an application to vote by absentee ballot is Sunday. It’s the first time millions of former Mexican residents have been able to cast absentee ballots, in hopes of helping Mexico keep its grip on democracy after voters in 2000 ended 71 years of single-party rule….”
