“The merchants along 26th Street thought they had an idea that would make everyone feel good: a second archway to mark the western entrance to the Little Village neighborhood, maybe Mexican and American flags linked by joined hands.

But when it came time Friday for the Little Village Chamber of Commerce to receive an oversized $50,000 check in state grants from state Sen. Martin Sandoval (D-Cicero), the merchants found themselves in the crosshairs of a political feud that has split Hispanic politicians across the Chicago area….”
