“If El Puente Community Center truly wishes to remain a bridge to the community for the underserved of LaPorte County, much work needs to be done.

The center, which opened in December 2001 as a referral service for Hispanic and other underserved residents of the county seeking area social services, has been without a director since June 30, following the resignation of founding director Mario Rosa. As the center’s board works towards the appointment of a new director, services at the center have been severely cut back, leaving many in LaPorte County’s Hispanic community to fend for themselves….”
