Low pay still plagues Hispanics

“The nation’s go-go economy of the 1990s failed to lift Hispanic workers out of lower-wage, blue-collar jobs as readily as it did their white counterparts, the Pew Hispanic Center says in a study released Thursday.

The study, “The Occupational Status and Mobility of Hispanics,” shows that whites were more than twice as likely as Hispanics to be employed in professional jobs in 2000. But even worse for Hispanics, the gap in that employment category widened during the 1990s….”
