“The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the nation’s largest and most influential advocate for the Hispanic business community, issues the following statement:
“As the leading force behind the nation’s growing Hispanic business community, we are extremely concerned by recent partisan, personal attacks against the good work of the SBA and its Administrator, Hector Barreto, Jr. The USHCC stands united behind the national effort to support the rebuilding of those areas affected by the recent devastation on the Gulf Coast region. While we and the more than two million Hispanic-owned businesses we represent across the nation continue to support these national efforts, we are also steadfast supporters of the U.S. Small Business Administration, whose employees are vital to the reconstruction effort. The recent politically-motivated attacks leveraged against Administrator Barreto undermine the hard work of a dedicated public servant and adversely affect the mission and commitment of the SBA as a partner and advocate for America’s 23 million small businesses. …”
