“Those words — “Long live the Virgin of Guadalupe!” — opened the Mass to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the most important days of the year for Mexican Catholics.

The feast honors the day almost 500 years ago when, according to Catholic tradition, Mary, the mother of Christ, appeared to a poor but pious man on a hill outside Mexico City….”
