City Hall signs Latino to join in planning, zoning. Indio, California

“Mariano Aguirre remembers driving through Indio on his travels to Baja as a kid.

“It is nothing like it is today,” the 37-year-old said inside his new office in Indio City Hall on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles area native is the newest employee of the Indio Community Development Department, which oversees planning, zoning and redevelopment in the city of 66,000 people. Indio Development Manager Aguirre will assist in further transforming the valley’s largest and fastest-growing city….”
