“After discussing it for three years, Arbitron is delivering on its promise to weight audience estimates by language preference in 21 markets, beginning with the Winter 2006 survey (Jan. 5 to March 29). Arbitron made the announcement during its annual consultant fly-in Thursday at company headquarters in Columbia, Md.
The change was made at the urging of Hispanic broadcasters who believe language is a key factor in determining how Hispanics listen to radio. Diary-keepers will be asked their language preference in markets where Arbitron employs a bilingual diary. The company will also add a personal race and ethnicity question to the diary in Winter 2006. …”
