Tagged: Day of the Dead, family, student, tamales“Students in the Puente Program examine an alter (ABOVE) honoring the dead as part of a studies into the Day of the Dead. The Puente Program is a national academic preparation program that tries to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged students attending four-year universities, earning degrees, and becoming mentors and community leaders. (BELOW) The alter displayed photos of deceased family members loaned by instructors and students, as well as flowers, artwork and food. The bread, tamales and fruit were among the favorite foods of those being remembered.”
