“When best-selling author Esmeralda Santiago visited Murfreesboro seven years ago, the number of Puerto Ricans who came to hear her talk surprised her, she says.

“A whole contingent of Puerto Ricans came to see me from neighboring communities,” says Santiago, who is due back in town in three days. “I was not expecting to see so many.”"
