“This week Knight Ridder Inc. will begin distributing the Spanish-language weekly Fronteras de la Noticia in San Jose to replace the local weekly El Nuevo Mundo, which the San Jose Mercury News closed Friday because it was not profitable enough, according to the company.
Though it had an audited weekly circulation of 57,000, El Nuevo Mundo, which was launched in 1996, was the third or fourth-ranked Spanish-language publication in the area, says Dan Breeden, a spokesman for the San Jose Mercury News.”
