“Approximately 75 percent of the population infected with HIV in southwest Kansas are Latinos, according to Arturo Ponce, coordinator of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care, Region 9.

Ponce’s work area includes 24 counties, and he has worked five years with people suffering that illness. At state level, he said, whites are more affected followed by African-Americans and Latinos. But Ponce worries that Latinos in southwest Kansas are getting more infected.”
