Latinos don’t lose, gain ground. Massachusetts

“A record number of Latino candidates did not increase the number of representatives on school committees and city councils in Holyoke and Springfield yesterday, a result that was disappointing even to some winners.

For the first time in the region, a dozen Latinos entered the political arena seeking seats in Holyoke and Springfield. They represented nearly 25 percent of the 54 candidates who sought political office in these cities.”
