“Elizabeth Villanueva was the guest speaker at the Chicano-Latino Youth Conference held at the California State University, Stanislaus, where a variety of workshops promoting the importance of a higher education and the Latino heritage were presented.
Villanueva, a counselor for the M.E.Ch.A. Club, explained the difficulties she had to overcome in order to reach her dreams, “The barrier of the English language was so big that I succumbed myself into my studies, I felt lonely because I could not communicate like I wanted to, the migrant program helped me so much to focus in my efforts and now I am very happy that my two younger brothers finished high school and will start the university.”"
