Univison Scores Record $180 Mil. in Ads for 2006 FIFA World Cup; Wins rights for 2010, 2014

“Univision today announced that it has taken in a record $180 million in advertiser commitments for the 2006 FIFA World Cup telecasts which begin airing next summer, with additional inventory left to sell.

And, as reported in Mediaweek earlier this week, Univision officially announced that it has won the U.S. Hispanic television rights to air the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament for $325 million. The rights also include several other FIFA soccer events, including the FIFA Women’s WOrld Cups in 2007 and 2011 and the FIFA Conderations Cups in 2009 and 2013, as well as 22 smaller tournaments. “
