“The Latinas Unidas event was all about giving and accepting credit for achievement, as the group recognized up-and-comers and veteran achievers alike. The luncheon is the primary event that the volunteer organization holds to celebrate accomplishments of Latinas.
Tina Pereda, a professor of Spanish language, literature and culture at Nazareth College for 33 years, won the career achievement award. Her work, including a soon-to-be-published anthology of often-ignored Hispanic female poets, has had a similar emphasis as Latinas Unidas.”
