Hard work and a little luck lead immigrant to Mundelein

“Increasingly, it is the face of suburban Chicago. Banda owns a home and his own plumbing business in Mundelein and, like many other Latinos, is climbing up the economic ladder.

Latinos in the metro area account for $20 billion in household income. Half own their homes, and in 2002, 40,000 Hispanic-owned businesses generated $7.5 billion in revenue, more than 50 percent higher than in 1997, according to a new report from the University of Notre Dame.”
