Latin Grammys gets a tuneup

Tagged: , ,

“Changes begin Thursday when for the first time the show will not be broadcast in English on CBS, which had been hosting the awards since 2000. Instead, the ceremony will be broadcast in Spanish only on Univision, marking a dramatic change for the Latin Grammys. And more changes will be evident when the curtain rises at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the elegant venue hosting the awards.

For one, there will be no Anglo musical guests, no Jessica Simpson, no Justin Timberlake or Jennifer Love-Hewitt, who in the past were used to attract non-Latinos to the show. Instead, this year’s show will feature an all-Latino cast of presenters and performers, including such stars as Alejandro Fernández, Los Tigres del Norte, Julieta Venegas, Bebo Valdes, Laura Pausini and Diego Torres.”
