“In the span of a few months it has turned into much more. Mr. Rojas is CEO of the newly formed Scranton Latin Alliance, and his family’s store, at 319 S. Main Ave., serves as the alliance’s temporary headquarters. A computer and small desk sit in a corner. A phone line for the alliance should be activated today.

Even before the alliance, the store was a clearinghouse of information. Mr. Rojas, 40, said about 20 people a month would come with questions about legal documents or a need for services. The store is a place where Hispanic community members can seek help, inquire about attorneys or doctors and gather information about nonprofit services or classes in English as a second language.”
