“The number of Hispanics in Wilkes-Barre almost doubled from 1990 to 2000, according to the U.S. Census. There were 351 Hispanics in the city in 1990, and 683 a decade later.

In Luzerne County, the number of Hispanics increased by 83 percent, from 2,023 in 1990 to 3,713 in the latest census. While the statistics available are more than five years old, there are some signs that the Hispanic population in Wilkes-Barre, along with a number of other minority groups, is on the rise.”
