“On most nights, Maria Loudes Arasaki and her 12-year-old son, Andrew, can be found around the kitchen table doing homework.

But instead of Arasaki helping her son, the Cedar Crest Middle School sixth-grader often takes the role of tutor, helping his mother with spelling or suggesting a word.”
