“Maybe the early 1960s was the last time Isherwood and the Times paid attention to Latin music (thanks, one assumes, to Desi Arnaz) but that doesn’t mean our music is “uncool”. The only thing uncool about this offensive review is the reviewer.
In a city like New York, where the No. 1 FM radio station plays SALSA, MERENGUE and REGGAETON, and where there are more Puerto Ricans than there are in Puerto Rico, you’d think the local newspaper might employ editors, or at the very least copy editors, with a tad more cultural sensitivity than THIS nonsense.”
