“Badger has 1,427 students; about 180 are Latino. The Latino population in Lake Geneva and Walworth County has grown considerably over the past 10 years as families have moved from Mexico and Latin American nations to take jobs in the local service and tourist industries.

McNeal said he noticed that Latino students were not involved in extracurricular activities. The special assembly for Latino students is an attempt to get the students to know each other and then to punch home the message that Badger is their school.
