Hispanic culture is diverse

Tagged: , ,

“The lesson that Edward James Olmos left for the citizens of Battle Creek and all those who could see him was clear and precise, “There is only one race, the human race, made up of diverse cultures.” It is the cultural diversity of Hispanics about which I would like to educate our community a bit.

Hispanics or Latinos, whatever they are called, are more than tortillas, burritos and sombreros. Mexico is an immensely great country full of a large variety of customs and folklore that has unfortunately been defined within these stereotypes. The worst part is that it’s not just the Mexicans, but Spanish-speaking people from other countries who are mistakenly supposed to be Mexicans and are labeled by these stereotypes.”
